So my 26th birthday went well. Nothing too exciting to report, though.
On Wednesday my olks took me to The Galley in Brockport. Good seafood and a nice view of the canal. Had me some swordfish steak, it was good, but I'l probably get something else next time I go there. Later that night I went over to Sean's apt and hung out.
Thursday I just stayed home and relaxed, then went back to Sean's apt and played a rousing game of Robo Rally. That game kicks ass! And it makes you do a robot dance, just to try and figure out how to move your robot around the board. Then I went home and got some sleep.
Next morning, Friday for those keeping track, I got up at the asscrack of 8:30 am so I could go out to Brockport and meet up with IndyAndyJones and Mr. Stan Mxyzptlk for some coffee and joviality. Both were had and both were good. Andy took off and Stan and I went to the Local Comic Shop, Collector's Choice. Not my normal place to buy my weekly fix of comics, but it was right there and I was going to buy them anyways so I just saved on some gas. Then Aldi's and then home and then I went to see The Brothers Grimm. I liked the movie, and I can sort of see why a lot of people didn't like it. It was Terry Gilliam doing mainstream hollywood after all, not him at his best. But all in all, it was an entertaining movie, and from what I hear Mr. Gilliam did it to get the funding so he can make Don Quixote next. Which should be amazing knowing his style.
And on Saturday morn I went over to my new gaming group and played D&D, which was especially fun because Josh, our DM, was high on caffiene and sleep dep. Weee!!!! Good group of people over there and I really enjoy playing with them. Also, Sara, being the sweetheart that she is made me a cake using Splenda™. It was a delicious mistake on her part, aka it looked like a biscuit and had the texture of one, but I really did appreciate the thought and effort she put into it. Thanks again, Sara. After game abruptly ended, becaused we realised that 2 hours can go by like nothing when you are having fun dungeon crawling, we started hauling out all the crap needed for the Rocky Horror Picture Show. So when we got all the stuff out and packed into various cars and minivan we took off for Brockport, specifically the SUNY campus. So me and Sara rode together in my car and hit Kinkos to print out some stuff, then drove into Brockport and went to Walmart to get some batteries for flashlights. And then, get this, we got a call from Josh (I think) letting us know that they didn't have a copy of Rocky Horror to play at the show. Thus forcing us to drive back out to MediaPlay in Greece and then back out to Brockport. The amazing part of this was that I think we were only about 20 minutes late in starting the show. An all around good time was had by all that night, including me, because it has been so freaking long since I have seen Rocky I have actually forgetten some of the callbacks.
Anways, it was a good birthday and short vacation from work. I need to do that again sometime soon.

So, the interveiw went well. At least I think it did. I mean I didn't make a jackass out of myself or anything and the guy said that he would be in touch with me. I think he liked me and saw that I knew what I was talking about most of the time.
I really do want this job. The benefits are really good. The insurance kicks in pretty much immediately, and as soon as you start the vacation time starts to build up. Personally, though, I think the best part is the fact that they will give you a voucher for taking the certification tests if you pass their internal CBT (Computer Based Training) tests, and if I want to go back to school to extend my education in the computer field they will reimburse me the tuition! This will, hopefully, be one kick ass company to work for. Plus it pays more than I'm making now.

So, I woke up to my phone ringing. It was a phone call that I was
looking foward to from a company called Unisys out if Farmington.
They basically do the same stuff that I do right now, tech
support. I was a good call because I have an interveiw set up for
Tuesday morning. :-) All kinds of happy about that
one. It's a better job from what I hear. Better pay, better
benefits and a better atmosphere to work in. Keep your fingers
crossed for me.
So, I come into work all in a good mood, anticipating good things for the Tuesday interveiw. Then when I get into my place of employment for the last four years. I do my normal routine of walking in, buying a Diet Dew from the vending machine in the caffeteria and go to my desk in my tiny cubicle. I read through my emails for the day and then a co worker that has been her considerably less time than me comes up to me to talk about some work stuff and getting some new information to the evening crew, which is my domain on this desk for now. And this is when she informs me that she is now the new Team Leader, taking over for one that is going part time to go back to school.
My first thought was "WTF?!" How the hell did she get Team Lead? When I had my yearly review back in late July / early August they told me that they wanted me back on days and wanted to see more initiative out of me. Well, I tried giving some intiative, I made suggestions on how to improve on what I saw. Granted, it wasn't much, but that was because I really didn't see much that needed improvment on this desk other than a lot of scheduling problems. I never saw anything that said they were trying to get me to days, NOTHING. And now I learn that I got passed over for this promotion.
I'm not saying the person that got it doesn't deserve it, but I've put my time in here and what do I get for it? The Big Shaft. Did they even consider me for the position? Probably not. Are they trying to get me back on days again? Probably not. Am I getting the fuck out of this place? I fucking hope so.
This is a fucking dead end job with no possibility of promotion, unless you suck up and are actually able to see your boss for more than five minutes a day.
Well, fuck them.

yup... stuff.
been a whole lot goin' on here, let me tell you. Let's see... since last I posted I've worked, slept, ate, shat, you know normal stuff. Oh, and I also went to see McChris in Buff-a-low. And let me tell you, he puts on one hellava good show for an irish rapping midget, or shall I call him the Hip-Hop Leprauchan? Ha, You want to watch McChris fight Gypies, don't you?
It was good. He had three opening acts. The first guys, Pecavii, sucks royally. I don't just mean they were bad... they blew flacid donkey wiener. It was bad, especially the retard jumping around in the contruction helmet. Swear to God they made him were that thing for his own protection, not just because he thought it was cool.
The second act was Still X ill. They rocked it out, hardcore. They were good. Couldn't understand a thing they sang, but they did it with style and sweat like a good hardcore band.
And then MC Goldie Wilson came on. Did you know he's not from Erie, PA.... guess you had to be there to get the joke. Anyways... He was good, too. Even if he couldn't finish because he broke the stage. His back-up dancer tripped over a wire and they couldn't get it back to working correctly quick enough. Yes, he did have a back-up dancer. It was fun.
Then the Main event came on stage after a small set-up interlude.
McChris Entered the stage. And Rocked The House! It was good. And that's all I'll say about that.
